You are not alone. There are approximately 3 million people living with type 1 diabetes the United States today; about 75,000 reside in the Bay Area. This year, more than 30,000 additional people will be diagnosed with type 1 diabetes; about half will be children.

Founded by parents of children living with type 1 diabetes, JDRF is dedicated to finding a cure. JDRF is driven by people with a personal connection to type 1 diabetes - this translates into an unrelenting commitment to finding a cure and improving the lives of people living with type 1 diabetes. JDRF is a leader in setting the agenda for diabetes research worldwide, and is the largest charitable funder and advocate of type 1 research. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
JDRF has granted more than $1.3 billion in diabetes research. In FY2008 the Foundation awarded more than $156 million in diabetes research grants in more than 1,000 centers, grants and fellowships in 22 countries.
